Susan Holmes McKagan was coined as an “international supermodel” on her recent appearance on mega long standing hit tv show, “America’s Next Top Model”. Susan was also featured on the show, as a celebrity guest judge, creative director and designer. Some of Susan’s credentials include her rocking the catwalk, for iconic designers such as Chanel, Versace, Prada,, Yves St. Laurent, Azzedine Alaia, Christian Lacroix, John Galliano, Jean Paul Gaultier, Nicole Miller, Badgley Mischka, Donna Karan, Valentino, Bill Blass, Todd Oldham, Calvin Klein, Herve Leger, Michael Kors, and Thierry Mugler to name a few. Holmes McKagan also scored campaigns for Guess, Dolce&Gabbana (alongside Kate Moss), Adrienne Vittadini, Fendi, Louis Vuitton, Escada, Karl Lagerfeld, Rochas, Diesel, and Victoria’s Secret, and billboards, ads and commercials for Peugeot (shot by Madonna’s famed director Jean Baptiste Mondino), and H&M Lingerie.
As an honor roll student, and a freshman attending University of San Diego High School, she was surrounded by the San Diego surf scene, Holmes McKagan made swimsuits just for fun. Her hobby was temporarily sidelined when her modeling career beckoned. Holmes McKagan has also graced the covers of US and/or international editors of VOGUE, W magazine, Glamour, marie-claire, WWD, Playboy, ELLE, Maxim, and Cosmopolitan. She has appeared in beauty campaigns for Rene Guinot (photographed by the esteemed Mario Testino), and Revlon (Pamela Hanson).
She was the star on E!’ Entertainment’s docs series “Married To Rock’ which aired to audiences of 97 million viewers. Susan feels so blessed to have worked with some of the world’s most applauded high fashion photographer’s, including Steven Meisel, Ellen Von Unwerth, Irving Penn, Helmut Newton, Sante D’Orazio,Arthur Elgort, Patrick Demarchelier, Peter Lindbergh, Matthew Rolston, Michael Thompson, Albert Watson and Walter Chin. By the mid 1990’s Holmes McKagan was touted as one of the highest paid fashion models. According to an interview by CNN, Susan earned the title “The Body” from her modeling success, particularly in lingerie and swimwear. Susan starred as the bride, alongside fellow model colleagues Tyra banks, Claudia Schiffer, Kate Moss and Helena Christensen in the British film Inferno! She has appeared on NBC, Mtv, E! /entertainment, The Travel Channel, CNBC, FOX, Vh1, The Bloomberg Network, Disney Channel, CNN, and CBS . Holmes McKagan was honored ‘The Key” to both the cities of
Detroit andToledo, Ohio by the respective Mayors, for her recognition from her hometown, for her international business endeavors.
Living part time in Los Angeles and dedicating most of her time with her family. Susan has two teenage daughters— Grace (19, the lead singer of the pop/punk band “The Pink Slips” and Mae 17, in school and working at Chrome Hearts, to broaden her fashion resume, and on occasion direct bookings, both girls model and have fun on various fashion photo shoots from “Material Girl” Madonna’s brand ads to covers, and special high fashion work). This return to Susan’s California lifestyle, reminded her of her original idea of becoming a swimwear/resort designer. Her focus is on creating swimwear that “exudes charm with rock n’ roll inspiration” with a quality and attention to detail. She credits her husband (of almost 20 years),to legendary rock star Duff McKagan. of over 100 million records sold worldwide, and now selling out stadiums globally, Guns N’ Roses as an integral part of her creative designs. One of the highlights she enjoys, in having a fun and successful business, in which she gets to contribute back over 10% after net proceeds to wonderful charities, such as “Project Angel Food,” “The Surfrider Foundation” and The Red Cross for natural disaster victims.
