Shifting from the surrealistic and dreamlike studios of previous seasons, Miu Miu opted instead for the hyperrealism of the street for Fall 2015. IconicFocus Juliette Branker and Marian Moneymaker star in the campaign shot by Steven Meisel who designed to have a hand-held, improvised cinematic style, which counters the trend of overly determinative techniques of many houses. Creative Director, Giovanni Bianco, purposefully juxtaposes street style photography of yesteryear with that of today as men with weather-worn, felt fedoras and chocolate-brown suits pass Miu Miu’s latest models on the street.
The campaign titled “Subjective Reality” is fitting as the backgrounds are populated by the mini-dramas of crowds of bystanders who are captured in mid-gesture. The art direction is exquisite, with the balancing lighting, composition, character, and clothing, all the while making the viewer feel as though this was all a happy accident of an impromptu snapshot.
