Runways have become an increasingly popular platform for designers to celebrate diversity. Whether it is through age, size or ethnicity, brands such as Tome are favoring inclusivity. IconicFocus’s Jacky O’Shaughnessy was one of these refreshing and diverse faces as she took the runway by storm in their Fall 2017 Ready-to-Wear Collection during NYFW. Dressed in a blush trench coat, the natural beauty was a confident and empowering presence on the runway, proving that fashion knows no age.
Tome has always been a brand that caters to all women, no matter their shape, size, or age. Today it was the female form that gave Tome’s designers Ryan Lobo and Ramon Martin their aesthetic strength, as the show included three plus-size models and the iconic Jacky O. “I think inclusiveness is a more interesting word,” Martin said, moments after the show. “Diversity suggests outsiders, whereas inclusiveness is just about acceptance with no questions asked.” The collection had power, humor, insight, and plenty of battle-ready bodies.
